Attended the 19 January 2026 Meeting of the Dover Township Trustees
A Good Evening in Dover Township
Last night I had the opportunity to attend the Dover Township Trustee’s meeting, and I’m grateful for the welcome and the conversation.
One of the most important parts of running for County Commissioner is showing up and listening. Township trustees are on the front lines of local government. They deal with real issues, real people, and real budgets — often with very limited resources.
The discussion last night focused on zoning issues, development concerns, and the basic management work that keeps a township running. Those topics may not sound flashy, but they are the foundation of good government. Zoning decisions shape the future of a community. Development pressures can either strengthen a township or slowly change it in ways residents never wanted. And solid management is what protects taxpayers and keeps public trust intact.
What stood out to me was the practical, responsible approach the trustees took. They were focused on doing things the right way — understanding the rules, tracking the dollars, and asking good questions about how growth affects Dover Township and the people who live there.
Meetings like this reinforce something I believe strongly: county government should support townships, not complicate their work. That means clear communication, respect for local control, and leadership that understands both rural priorities and responsible development.
I appreciated the chance to listen, learn, and visit with folks after the meeting. I’m running because I want county government to be a partner to our townships — protecting taxpayers, supporting communities, and making sure growth is handled carefully and transparently.
Thank you to the Dover Township Trustees for opening the door and for the work you do every day on behalf of your neighbors. I look forward to staying engaged and continuing these conversations across Union County.
